Medical Transcriptionist Week

Today begins the week of the celebration of YOU! Your profession, what you have chosen to do with your life! It can be all you dreamed of doing or being!

As you probably know, President Reagan signed the presidential proclamation in 1985 to recognize the third week of May as National Medical Transcriptionist Week. What a great thing for all of us. I thought it might be fun for all of you to see what that said and recognize that it still holds true today, so here it is:

MT Week Proclamation

How cool is that?! Now, 25 years later, those words still ring true. MTs DO play a role in producing quality documentation for the patient record!

This year’s theme is Capturing America’s Healthcare Story: Why We Matter  to Health Care. It speaks of the important role that medical transcriptionists play in healthcare documentation. The MT Week Poster is above.

I encourage you to take a moment every day this week to be proud of who you are and what you do and the role that medical transcriptionists play in healthcare documentation. Who you are DOES make a difference!
