Medical Transcription: Tales From the Blogosphere
Yea! It’s Friday. Time to relax, right? Well, almost. For those of you who have children, many of them started back to school this week. In our family, my niece rejoiced that school started this past week. Time for her schedule to settle down, right? But wait, this weekend, there’s football practice, a wedding rehearsal, hair appointments for the wedding and the wedding itself, cheerleading practice, and the State Fair Parade, where of course the cheerleaders must march! Naturally, many of these events overlap in time! While HER weekend will be hectic, I hope yours will be a bit more relaxed. So, for your “relax” time, I’ve pulled together a few things I ran across this week that I thought might interest you.
Do You Like Being Late?
The blog Musings of a Distractible Mind is written by a physician. I like his writing style and often enjoy the things he has to say. This week, his post about running behind gave me an appreciation of those times when I go to the doctor and have to wait a little too long (in my mind) for my appointment.
Implementing EHRs, the HITECH Act, and Stimulus Money
Mary Pat Whaley writes a blog called Manage My Practice for physician practice managers. She has some great tips and ideas. This week she shared a free resource on implementing an electronic health record and how practices can benefit from the stimulus funds. You can download this guide for free from the links on her site.
An Awesome Video
If you do nothing else on this blog today, take a few short minutes and watch this video. Joshua is a 12-year-old with Asperger syndrome. In this video, he does an interview with his mom. It’s touching and insightful.

What are you waiting for?
Seth Godin had a great post this week about avoiding momentum. Think of a project you’ve had or something you really wanted to do? What stops you? This is a great reminder that sometimes it’s just our lizard brain getting in the way.
Happy weekend!
