Colorado Mountains in Fall

It’s Friday! This week has been a hectic one here, although I imagine some of that is because I actually took most of Monday off to go to the mountains with my husband. Fall is definitely on the way here and the colors are changing! The picture you see here is one of the Colorado mountains beginning to sprout their fall colors. It’s one of my most favorite times of the year around here. The colors are so vibrant that they take your breath away!

I found a few interesting links that I wanted to share with you for some weekend reading. Grab your coffee, sit back and relax, take a few minutes away from that keyboard, and enjoy!

Diabetic Treatment Study in Stockholm

This one is not for the faint of heart. It’s an interesting report about a study being done in Stockholm to treat diabetes using fecal transplants. Have to warn you that if you have a weak stomach, you might not want to watch the video. This results from study were reported at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Meeting.

Seasonal Affective Disorder

It’s that time of year again as we move closer to the date of changing our clocks. Many folks are impacted by this as we come to the time when we have fewer daylight hours in the day. This is a quick article on how to combat SAD and worth the read.

Blog World!

In October, I will be attending the Blog World conference. I am quite excited about this as it’s an opportunity to attend a meeting not at all related to medical transcription and meet some people who I have been following for awhile on their blogs. It’s also an educational opportunity for me to learn how to do things better here. One of the interesting tracts they have scheduled relates to how the world of blogging and social media is impacting health care. I am truly looking forward to it. It won’t be all work, however. Yesterday I learned I am one of the lucky people who has won ticks to see Viva ELVIS by Cirque du Soleil! I’ve heard about their shows for years, never been to one, and have been an Elvis fan since I was two years old, so I am really looking forward to this show. You’ll hear about it when I return!

Dr. Grumpy

This blog is one I love to read when I need a good laugh. Doctor Grumpy in the House is written by a neurologist who says on his site “My patients and practice drive me NUTS! Some days I’m so sick of patient shenanigans, the stupidity of insurance companies, and just the daily insanity of this field that I write this blog as my gripe forum.” His posts are amusing and I quite enjoy him. Warning, it can be addictive! :)

How about you? What have you found interesting lately in reading on the web? Have a great weekend!
