30 Days of Gratitude 2011 Day 7
Today marks one week that we’ve been doing our 30 days of gratitude challenge. How time flies! It’s also the day people get all dressed up to celebrate Halloween.
For me, however, today is something different and it’s connected to what I am thankful for today. Today is my wonderful husband’s birthday. We will celebrate that today and not by getting dressed up in costumes!
About three years ago, I was living in Barbados and had friends tell me about a man who did foot massages on the beach. I wanted one and so we set up a time to meet him to do that for all of us. As I sat on that beach, I saw this man approach and he had the most amazing smile I’ve seen in a long time. I’d say that smile was captivating. And oh my, the foot massage! A woman could fall in love with just that. What followed after that was the beginning of a courtship that led to our wedding just two and a half years ago. It’s been an amazing time.
We were married only five months when I was told I had been laid off from my job. Stuck in another country, worried about the future, and not sure what life would bring, I was pretty scared. That wonderful man just looked at me and said “From the time we met, God has always made things right. This will be no different.” What a blessing that I have him in my life.
He’s come to live in the States, quite an experience for him to go from the warm island of Barbados to the winters in Colorado. He’s won the hearts of my family, my grandmother loves him, and Turbo thinks there’s nobody better than his dad. What more could I want.
And so today, I am grateful for the wonderful man who is my husband and all that he brings to my life. I wish him a very wonderful happy birthday!
How about you? What’s on your list today?
