30 Days of Gratitude 2012 Day 19
Today I’m thankful for the female friends I have made along the way in life. There’s something about female friends that just brings different things to your life.
Our profession has given me lots of opportunity to meet some really great women. They are intelligent, funny, and engaging to be around. I’ve been blessed with some of the best mentors in our industry throughout my career, and I’m eternally grateful for that. It’s my hope that in some small way I am able to continue their legacy of mentoring with other women as life goes on.
What I love about our profession is so full of very different people. Some people, I would never have met if not for this industry. It’s given me insight into walks of life and things I would have never known about. Because of our common bond in health care, we are able to share other things in life as well.
But then, life isn’t all about work. I’ve been blessed that many of these relationships have developed into true friendships. Those are the people I can call, after not having spoken to them in months, and it’s just like we talked yesterday. They are the people who “get” me. I had such a conversation this weekend with a friend I haven’t talked to for awhile. We picked up where we had left off so easily. She’s taught me so much, and I am so thankful for her friendship and her presence in my life.
Many of the women I’ve met along the way aren’t even in transcription, and yet we share some bond related to health care. It’s the beauty of what we do and how we can connect to so many different people.
What I love about this is that we all find ways to support each other. And while some of that is about work, much of it is simply about life. So to each of you, thank you for being a presence in my life.
How about you? What’s on your list today?

I missed yesterday so I’ll do two today.
First I am grateful that I have a great daughter and that we have such a close relationship. We talk several times a week and see each other when we can and I am proud of the woman that she has become over the years.
For today, like Kathy, I am grateful for all of the strong, intelligent women I have met in my life. Kathy has always been an inspiration to me and I am better for knowing her. There are many others that I have developed friendships with over the years and even though I have never met them in person I consider us to be friends.
